DATA ENGINEER (JT)

Location: Budapest, XI. district, hybrid (2 day/office)

Salary: competitive

Type of employment: contracting

Start: ASAP

Tasks:

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using AWS, PySpark, Airflow, and Redshift.
• Analyze and optimize Redshift workloads, including query execution plans, WLM configuration, distribution/sort keys, and overall warehouse performance.
• Develop and maintain robust data models and transformation workflows using SQL and dbt, following data engineering best practices.
• Implement monitoring, data quality, CI/CD, and operational best practices to ensure reliable, scalable, and production-ready data platforms.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, especially in cloud data warehouse environments.
• Proven expertise in AWS Redshift — internals, WLM, distribution/sort keys, query execution plan analysis, optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Pyspark and Apache Airflow.
• Strong SQL skills and deep understanding of query performance tuning in Redshift.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling (Kimball), normalized models, and hybrid strategies.
• Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Redshift Console)
• Familiarity with data versioning, CI/CD, and collaborative development practices in dbt.
• Confident English
• Candidate needs to be to be currently eligible to work in Hungary.

Good to have skill:

• Expertise in Airflow, AWS Glue
